A coaching programme for neurodivergent people in Scotland
Neurodiversity (ND) is an umbrella term for anyone whose brain functions, processes, behaves, and learns differently from what is generally considered “typical.” Types of ND include but are not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Epilepsy, Dyspraxia and many chronic mental health conditions.
Neurotypical brains work within the parameters of “typical brain functionality” while neurodivergent brains are not seen as “typical” – neurological functioning is different in some way, and shows up behaviourally, physically, and/or in brain functionality, such as in speech, processing and/or emotions.
It is estimated (based on current diagnosis and waiting times 2024) that around 20% of the Scottish population are Neurodiverse (ND) and about 70% of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) individuals have 1 co-morbid mental health disorder and 40% have 2 or more (DSMV).
From our practice with ASD and other ND clients we’ve discovered that while each are entirely individual, there are commonalities in ND client’s mental health and wellbeing needs. YI have created a Wellbeing Programme designed specifically to meet these needs and we combine group and 1:1 coaching sessions to ensure that each individual has their own person-centred experience.
