I’m Louise, the founder and Clinical/Service Director at Youth Interventions, a Children, Young Person and Family Centre based in Renfrewshire. I’m an Integrated Clinical Psychotherapist / Counsellor / Coach with specialisms in young people, substance use disorders and neurodiversity. My experience in the field of mental health is extensive and I have worked across all of the capacities including:
* a Tier 4 residential rehab where I researched, designed and delivered the female group programme
* therapy / counselling / coaching
* writing and delivering service provision for private organisations
* lecturing
* design, creation and delivery of the three pillars of Service at Youth Interventions, representing the organisation at both a regional and national level and formulating it's strategic plan
Not all things in life are equal and I’m passionate about giving disempowered oppressed families and young people a voice by offering them a safe space to be where they can improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
My role here consists of managing the youth team, co-facilitating activities and providing a safe, fun and inclusive space for our young people. I engage with the wider community to build strong partnerships to raise the profile of our youth projects. Our team works hard to create workshops on current issues to deliver to our local secondary schools to promote awareness and provide support to the community. I am a bubbly and outgoing person and I strongly believe that everyone is unique and should receive the correct support tailored to their needs and with the best support anyone can be who they want to be.
My role at YI is co-facilitating activities to engage young people and building and encouraging positive relationships within the hub, between both staff and young people. My favourite thing about my job is the opportunity to build bonds with the young people and joining in with the fun, outgoing activities. I also enjoy running and reading.
My role here is co-facilitating our youth groups, empowering our young people, and working alongside our amazing team to plan and organise events whether it be in the hub or community. Out with my job I am a very active person, I love incorporating sports and fitness into activities at our hub. I strongly believe participating in physical activities not only betters our body but also our minds, which is why I feel it is so important to encourage our young people to get active.
My name is Emma, a counsellor at YI. I trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which included working with groups. I've been working with children, young people, and adults providing support to process and understand their triggers, emotions, and associated thoughts. This can be from everyday worries to something particularly difficult that's happened in the past while in a safe space. It also gives the opportunity to learn new coping skills.
When someone trusts you to share their deepest thoughts and most traumatic memories it's incredibly humbling and a stark reminder of why we need accessible mental health support.
My name is Shannon - I am currently studying to gain my BSc psychology degree. I enjoy working alongside families and young people - My role is to support and empower them creating a better overall sense of well-being. This involves working to understand their unique challenges, strengths, and goals while providing guidance, resources, and strategies tailored to their needs.
Not all things are equal and whilst we’re not an organisation that addresses the structural causes of poverty, we recognise that they can and do contribute to poor mental health and increased stressors. We deliver most of what we do as a charitable organisation, so by supporting us as a corporate partner you’ll be assisting us to deliver this much valued and cherished place to be.
We rely on funding, and corporate partnerships to keep doing the work we do. If you'd like to help, please get in touch to make a donation.
If your organisation would like to increase it's own positive impact on the community, and you would be interested in partnering with us, please get in touch.
Ensure that your team is fully trained when it comes to Mental Health, Neurodiversity, and Substance and Misuse. Please get in touch to make a book a training.
